With a long career in banking, Lisa Martins has experienced nearly every side of the industry. She got her start in college as a bank teller and went on to serve in roles including retail supervisor, branch manager, loan officer, and Treasury Management. Today, she brings that well-rounded experience to her role as a Treasury Operations & I2R Specialist with Heritage Bank, where she has been making an impact for the past five months.
Lisa’s passion for banking started early. As a kid, she loved saving money, counting it regularly, and visiting her local bank to deposit it. Watching her savings grow, complete with an updated savings book from the teller, sparked a lifelong appreciation for financial stability and the role a trusted bank can play.
What Lisa enjoys most about her work is the trust she builds with her customers. She takes pride in being dependable, returning calls, solving problems, and always keeping their best interest in mind. She’s known for saying that 90% of her clients are her “favorite customers,” which speaks to how much she truly values those relationships.
One recent example of that commitment came when she helped an 80-year-old HOA president set up ACH payments for monthly fees. While he was initially unsure and concerned about the process, Lisa took the time to sit with him, walk him through each step, and make sure he felt confident. In the end, he was not only successful but grateful, sharing how much he appreciated working with a local bank that made the process easier than expected.
Lisa graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in business and a minor in Religious Studies. In her current role, she is focused on helping every business customer get set up with Positive Pay, knowing how important it is in protecting both her customers and the bank.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family. She has been married to her husband, John, for 10 years and is a proud mom and grandma. Whether she’s hiking the trails at Sibley State Park or cheering on University of North Dakota hockey, she loves staying active and connected to the community.
