The Federal Trade Commission has announced the launch of a new website, IdentityTheft.gov, a resource that makes it easier for victims to report and recover from identity theft. Creating a Secure Password the Easy Way was presented by Steve Gasser of Vivid Image

A secure password is one that meets the following guidelines:

 It must obtain symbols
 It cannot be found in the dictionary
 It cannot be found on your Facebook profile (like a child’s or pet’s name)
 It is at least 11 characters long
 It is not written down on a sticky note on your desk
 It must contain uppercase and lowercase letters

 

The most common response to these criteria is “How am I supposed to remember random characters?”

New Phone Scam Hitting Some Customers

Please remember that Heritage Bank and MasterCard will never ask for your full social security number over the phone or via unsecured email.  If you are unsure or uneasy about any call or email you receive regarding your accounts, debit cards or credit cards, hang up and contact your bank or your the phone number on the back of your card.
