Area foodshelves receive donations from Heritage Bank locations
Staff and customers participated in an employee-inspired food drive at all Heritage Bank locations during the month of March. Heritage Bank tallied more than 2,100 pounds of food and nearly $3,000 in just a few short weeks. The food and cash donations collected in each community were donated locally to the food pantries in the communities served by Heritage Bank.
As part of the annual month-long food drive, Heritage registered as a team on The Biggest Giver Food Drive Challenge and pledged to donate at least $5 or 5 pounds per employee. “Our goals were simple, but that didn’t stop our staff from really going above and beyond,”said CEO Tom Geiger. “We have a lot of generous folks at Heritage!”
Heritage Bank has 13 locations in Iowa and Minnesota with about 130 full time employees. Each location was presented with the challenge of finding out how to best serve the needs in a specific community. Some locations made creative displays to encourage donations and some departments issued challenges to others to inspire more giving. “It’s fun when the employees get more involved,”said Iowa President Randy Wilkinson. “Making it a light competition between departments or locations brings in a lot of donations for the food shelf.”
