Originally, we had planned to rent, but soon found that wouldn't be an option for us in the small town we were moving to. We tried to obtain … More a loan with our parents as co-signers from our bank back home, but that bank would only offer a small loan, with a 20% down payment and very high interest rate.
We began searching online for other options and happened upon Heritage Bank. We found that, as a veterinarian, I qualified for their Physicians Loan, which was a home loan with 0% down payment, a low fixed interest rate for the first several years, and offered more than enough loan money to purchase a home. This was such a relief, as though we would have little income just coming out of veterinary school, this would allow us to invest in a home that we knew we could pay off once I started working. Our representative, Sara Sangwin, was absolutely wonderful to work with, answering all of our questions as new homeowners (and at any time of day/night!).
Heritage Bank was truly a blessing to us in a most stressful time of transition in our lives, and one year later we still cannot believe how wonderful it is to be in our own home! I would (and have!) recommend Heritage Bank to other veterinarians/physicians that are struggling to find a home during that transition period of student to doctor. They truly are there to help and couldn't be more wonderful during the entire process. Thank you again to Sara and the team at Heritage Bank! -
