Hybrid ATM Frequently Asked Questions

Family and work schedules don’t fit a traditional mold, so neither can our approach to banking products and services.  We invite you to use our Hybrid ATMs at bank locations in Sioux City, Holstein, Alta, Pennock, Spicer and Willmar.

While the Hybrid ATM can be used for typical ATM transactions 24 hours a day, live video interaction with our customer service team is available at the touch of a button for cashing checks, depositing cash and/or checks, getting cash and more!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: HOW DOES THE HYBRID ATM WORK?

||  A: The Hybrid ATM is very simple! It is just like using the self-checkout at the grocery store or airport, but even easier. The first step is to insert your debit card in the slot where the blue light is flashing, and then just follow the screen messages. If you don’t have a Heritage Bank debit card, select “Request Teller Assistance” or “Help” button during the extended customer service hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8-noon Saturday). 

Q: WHY DID HERITAGE BANK GET NEW ATMs? 

||  A: The new Hybrid ATMs provide customers with additional and possibly more convenient hours for doing some of their basic banking transactions.  Our tellers will still be available during regular business hours to help customers with any transactions and more complex questions.

Q: IS THIS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER ATM? 

||  A: Yes and no! This ATM functions like any ATM – no matter if you are a Heritage Bank customer or not! Most anything you can do at another ATM is available on the Hybrid ATM. Having 24 hours access to your cash is a great feature, but the enhanced services available on the Hybrid ATM are what really sets this technology apart.

Q: WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE HYBRID ATM COMPARED TO OTHER ATMs?

||  A: The Hybrid ATM will allow you to do things like deposit checks and/or cash (up to 200 items per transaction) and make withdrawals. During the extended customer service hours, you can cash checks, make deposits and get help from a Deposit Services Representative on many other banking services.

Q: IS IT POSSIBLE TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT THE BANK IF I COME AFTER WORK?

||  A: During our extended customer service hours, we have a department established to assist you. Our extended hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays (excluding regular bank holidays). Simply choose “Request Teller Assistance” or “Help” to talk with a Deposit Services Representative.

Q: WHAT IF I AM NOT COMFORTABLE USING NEW TECHNOLOGY?

||  A: These machines are really very simple… a lot like using the self-check out at the grocery store. You can use them 24 hours a day just like a regular ATM, plus take advantage of the additional services available during the extended customer service hours.  If you would like a quick training session to see how the Hybrid ATM could benefit  you, feel free to ask your favorite Customer Service Representative.

Q: CAN I OPEN OR CLOSE ACCOUNTS AT THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: Most of the process can be completed by using the Hybrid ATM with the assistance of a Deposit Services Representative. Some paperwork will require signatures that can either be mailed to you or signed at the bank during regular business hours. To open a new account, you can also use our secure online account applications. If you need to close an account after regular banking hours, you can submit a request through online banking.

Q: WHEN I WANT CASH, CAN I CHOOSE THE BILLS I WANT TO RECEIVE?

||  A: With a self-serve transaction using your debit card, you’ll get $1s, $5s, $20s and/or $50s.  If you want to choose the denominations, simply select “Request Teller Assistance” and explain what you’d prefer to receive.

Q: CAN I PUT COINS INTO THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: The Hybrid ATM cannot accept coins as part of a deposit.  However, if you are cashing a check, it will dispense coins as needed.

Q: CAN I MANAGE MY CD AT THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: When using the Hybrid ATM, you can add money from another Heritage Bank account and/or change the terms of a CD that is coming up for renewal, however there may be situations where you need to finish the process inside the location during regular banking hours.

Q: CAN MY EMPLOYEES CASH PAYROLL CHECKS AT THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: If you are a business customer of Heritage Bank, this is a great option for your employees to cash their payroll checks! With extended customer service hours, your employees can get their checks cashed without having to rush out of work.  If your employee is not a Heritage Bank customer, he/she will simply need a current photo ID to cash a payroll check.

Q: HOW DO I MAKE A DEPOSIT INTO MY ACCOUNT?

||  A: Start by inserting your debit card into the Hybrid ATM. The directions on the screen will walk you through the process. The flashing white light on the right side of the machine indicates where the checks and cash are inserted together – the Hybrid ATM will sort the cash from the checks and provide a tally of each.

Q: DO I NEED A DEPOSIT SLIP TO MAKE A DEPOSIT?

||  A: You do not need a deposit slip to make a deposit.  The Hybrid ATM will count your cash and add up the checks and then ask you to verify the amounts. If, for some reason, it doesn’t match the amount you think it should be, simply ask the Deposit Services Representative for help or get your entire deposit back.  If it is after the extended customer service hours and you still disagree on the amount, then you can return to the bank during regular business hours or stop at the Hybrid ATM during the staffed hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8-noon Saturday).

Q: CAN I GET CASH BACK FROM MY DEPOSIT?

||  A: Yes, when using your debit card, simply follow the screen directions when asked if you want cash back. You’ll get the fewest number of bills back in $1s, $5s, $20, and $50s.

Q: CAN I MAKE DEPOSITS AT THE HYBRID ATM INTO OTHER HERITAGE BANK ACCOUNTS?

||  A: You are able link up to 2 checking accounts and 2 savings accounts to one Heritage Bank debit card. You can have the additional accounts linked to your debit card by speaking to our customer service team or submitting a request through online banking. If your accounts are not linked to your debit card, the Deposit Services Representative can help you deposit into multiple accounts during the extended customer service hours.

Q: CAN I MAKE A LOAN PAYMENT THROUGH THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: You can ask the Deposit Services Representative help you transfer money from your Heritage Bank checking account to make a loan payment. At this time, the technology does not allow for loan payments made by cash or check via the Hybrid ATM.

Q: CAN I GET A MONEY ORDER? CASHIER’S CHECK? GIFT CARD?

||  A: We aren’t quite there yet… for a money order, cashier’s check or gift card, you will need to visit us in any of our locations.

Q: CAN I CASH IN OR DEPOSIT MY SAVINGS BONDS AT THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: The technology of the Hybrid ATM is not able to scan and read the savings bonds, so you should bring them into the bank during regular banking hours and we’ll be happy to help.

Q: CAN I TRANSFER MONEY BETWEEN ACCOUNTS BY USING THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: Yes, if both accounts are linked to your debit card, you can transfer funds on your own by following the instructions on the screen. If you want to transfer between accounts that are not linked to your debit card, simply choose “Request Teller Assistance.”

Q: CAN I WITHDRAW RANDOM AMOUNTS?

||  A: This ATM has $1s, $5s, $20s and $50s. When you use your debit card, the machine will decide which denominations you get and give you the least number of bills. If you want to decide which denominations you receive, simply choose “Request Teller Assistance” during the extended customer service hours.

Q: DO I ALWAYS HAVE TO USE MY DEBIT CARD ON THE HYBRID ATM?

||  A: When using your Heritage Bank debit card, you can use the Hybrid ATM 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  If you are not using a Heritage Bank debit card, you’ll need to select “Request Teller Assistance” during our extended customer service hours which are currently set as 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER USING A HYBRID ATM?
