Financial Accountant (Part Time)

Position Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for assisting Accounting & Finance with various day-to-day accounting and fund management routines within the Accounting & Finance Department, including on-going balancing and settlement of correspondent accounts, completing and documenting GL and internal account reconciliations, unclaimed property and real estate and lawyers trust reporting.  This position provides key back-up to the Funds Management Specialist.  This position also provides support to the CFO/COO and Accounting & Finance on special projects including, but not limited to, budgeting, ALM and other projects as requested.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounting:

  1. Assist VP FMA in the daily monitoring and maintenance of the balancing and settlement of all correspondent accounts.
  2. Leads the completion, follow-up and documentation of bank GL and internal account reconciliations ensuring adherence to bank policies and procedures in accordance with bank policy.   
  3. Provide key backup to Funds Management Specialist position.  Familiarization and working knowledge of preparation of the daily wire processing including verification of wire transfers, key balancing and control functions.

Other:

  1. Assist in the preparation of internal and external audit informational requests for the Bank.
  2. Maintain effective working relationships and workflows between various departments of the bank. 
  3. Promote accounting/operational efficiencies.
  4. Participates in all required BSA training and demonstrates knowledge of BSA relative to job responsibilities.
  5. Responsible for security as it applies to this position.
  6. Responsible for compliance with laws and regulations applicable to this position.
  7. Responsible for performing professional and accurate service.
  8. Other items as requested by supervisors

Role Qualifications:

  1. Post high-school training in financial accounting or business administration, plus one to three years’ experience in bank operations or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Previous knowledge of bank accounting and operating policies and procedures
  3. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to utilize written and verbal communication skills effectively
  4. Good time-management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  5. Demonstrated attention to detail
  6. Strong customer service focus
  7. Strong personal computer skills; preference in ITI mainframe and Microsoft Office environment
